    I bet less than 5% of drivers used winter tires even in the snowy states. Remember, driver skills and slower speed along with enough threads are some of the factors. I have an AWD drive vehicle equipped with the best all season tires and never had problems. People are going to have prob;ems driving too fast in a RWD vehicle with bald tires.

    Allseason in europe is WITH Snowflakemountainsymbol. I used the Vredestein Quatrac5 over here in The Netherlands and neighborouring countries. So rather flat up to 700 metres mountains with 50 cm of snowover. These performed very well and had no problem with steep roads. However, the Goodyear vector4 Gen2 are known to be even better and these are now under my car since my Quatracs were worn down.

    Two of the most foul-winter-weather states in the country and they don't allow studded winter tires; MN and WI. Oh, and even though I am a die-hard winter tire user, the test comparing the vehicle navigating that corner? The driver who spun around didn't use any counter-steer technique. Just FYI.

      Usually the people who praise the all-weather stuff, have never actually tried to drive on a wet ice with a bit snow on top of it. On a wet ice a studded wheel is simply unbeatable.

    Yeah, its funny how I keep hearing of people who claim that they don't need winter tires because they have an AWD SUV, yet it is those same people who get into serious accidents during the winter when they rear-end someone at the stop lights. They usually blame the other person for 'stopping too quickly'. It never even occurs to them that maybe they should buy winter tires to cure this problem they are having.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 6 років тому

      Stopping and turning requires good tires no matter what you drive, how many wheels are pulling. It's basic ignorance about the owner's vehicles, lack of driving skill, and buying marketing hype that leads to accidents. Winter tires are mandatory in snowy places if you want to drive danger free. People who boast of all-season (no-season) tires have no idea how much traction they give up in comparison to tires designed in a thousand ways to hook on cold, snowy surfaces.

    you do know that the video shows the all season tires still rotating on the car as you check breaking distance. the driver is purposely not pushing the brakes hard enough to engage the antiliock breaks. Stopping distance is supposed to be measured at full break power not mild breaking power done by a biased driver.

      23Darkio not it's not, ABS is rapid. It doesn't allow the wheel to rotate several rotations

      You think ABS (as in ANTI-lock brakes) NOT locking up the wheels is a conspiracy? Hmm.....

    The Government may require dealers to provide the registration form but the last two RVs I purchased did not include registration form. When I asked the dealer he had no idea what I was talking about.

    Really? Are you serious? 1st. You check your tyre pressure every time you fill up the tank. (Just as you check oil, coolant, brake and steering fluid levels.) 2nd. Every time before you start your car, you do a short visual inspection, so you will spot a flat tire (unless you have ultra low sidewalls, but why would you drive those on a daily-driven vehicle?) 3rd. You check tyre pressures before the start of each longer journey. 4th and most important: If a tyre looses air, you'll feel it. If you don't, you do not belong behind the wheel. (Exception: cars with run-flat tyres - their stiffer sidewalls will hide underinflation until it is too late. But then, their much too stiff sidewalls ruin ride quality and handling, so why are you using them in the first place?) "Next to the seat belt, TPMS is probably the most important safety system..." rubbish. Utter rubbish - and shameless fearmongering. TPMS is only needed when using run-flat tyres (but then, it is really needed. No doubt about that.) With proper tyres, the driver will notice underinflation early enough just by the feel how the car drives. The most important safety system is a properly trained, alert driver. NO electronic gadget may excuse neglecting your duties as a driver.
